LIBYAN DESERT GLASS #7

Libyan Desert glass is a tektite, a kind of rock formed by the impact of a meteorite. When an impact event happens, the extreme heat and pressure can fuse the underlying sediments into a new substance. The sand particles of the Sahara were instantaneously melted into this gorgeous golden green glass in the instance of Libyan Desert glass.

Libyan Desert glass created as a result of a meteorite impact, which fused the silicas in the sand to produce impact glass.

Libyan Desert Glass (also known as Egypt or Egyptian Desert Glass) is a unique and magnificent impact glass that can only be discovered in one distant place on Earth. It's linked to an old meteorite impact that happened somewhere in the North African deserts. Quality specimens are transparent and show pseudo regmaglypts, which might be formed by wind erosion or ablation when molten bits were hurled into the air after impact.
